Geez Louise! I’m so happy that I did not skip making this coat in muslin first. I did it to make sure the fit was right but it’s the opportunity to figure out the collar construction that makes me glad I’m sewing a muslin.

Let me share my confusion;

This is the collar and lapel. Looks okay. (The black stitch line shows the “finished” shape of the collar and lapel.)
Here the collar is flipped up to show the collar stand. The collar is sewn to the lapel which I think is how it’s suppose to be. (It’s been a long time since I’ve done any tailoring).
Burda’s instructions for the collar. What?
Now, I’m thinking that this illustration is exactly is how my flipped up collar looks, but I’m a little skeptical. However, I’m moving on and sleeping on it. I can come back – I own a seam ripper and I’m pretty experienced with it.
